Evaluation 2: How does your media product represent particular social groups?

I believe that my magazine represents similar social groups to magazines such as NME magazine (from which the image on the left is taken) because the content is fairly similar, I'm going to use the two images above to highlight this. Let's first consider the posture of the two people within the photographs, as you can see they are very similar, they both stand straight upright with their body positioned towards the camera, this is a standard stance to address the audience.
In terms of gestures the pictures are different, the fist image has a sense of playfulness and an almost mocking tone to it whereas, my image on the left features the model looking mildly happy but serious also. This shows a difference because it shows that the first magazine has an established sense in which the audience have a connection with the people in the magazine already. To contrast this, my image connotes  that with the content being new there is a need to build the connection with the audience and that it needs a slightly more serious tone.
As for the angle and shot type of the photos, there is little difference, the first is an eye-line shot as if you are a person standing talking and socialising with the character and the second is similar. However, with the second image we can see that the camera has a slightly higher-angled shot, this has little effect however as the image still mainly is an eye-line shot.
The lighting is very similar in both of these photos because they are both located outside however, the first image seems to have more light on the persons face, this suggests that the photo is intended to attract the audience because of the focus on the face, my photo however, doesn't have a focus on lighting in particular. You can see that the light however, does seem to be concentrated on one side of the model's face.
The costumes in the two images are essentially the same, a lot of tweed. You can see that both of the people are wearing tweed ties and white shirts, this really reaches out to the target audience and shows social representation at its best. One thing to note in terms of different social groups is that fact that the man on the right is wearing designer ray ban sunglasses which are known to be expensive, however, I don't think it changes the social class too much.
For the expression of the people in the photos which i mentioned briefly before, it is clear that the picture on the right has a far more fun looking expression. This allows the audience to relax a little bit in the sense that people can see the characters in the photographs can be down to earth too. As for the picture on the left the expression looks slightly happy but not in the same sense as the previous image.
The hair in the images looks quite different. As you can see in the image on the left, quite a natural look is achieved, this shows that the model is not high maintenance  and is quite down to earth, it is the small things which suggest social representation and with my magazine being a people's magazine i think my image works very well in this aspect. The other photograph, however, shows the person's hair to be quite stylish and it looks to be high maintenance, this could show that the magazine is more to showcase the look of people rather than the soul purpose of the magazine itself, to showcase music.
